Local artist Mary Dickens will be the Canal Street Guest Artist showing between July 15th and August 31st. The Artist’s reception will be held on Friday, August 1st 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Her show is entitled, “Tribute”, and subtitled, “I sought a place of refuge, where thoughts were unfettered by words, and words unfettered by thought”. Canal Street Gallery, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico, present an evening celebrating the life, art and cuisine of Frida Kahlo on Saturday, September 20, 2008. "Las Fiestas de Frida" - Frida Kahlo - A New Look, is a media presentation by Gregorio Luke, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Canal Street Gallery Reception Hall with a reception immediately following. In addition, we will display a rare collection of photographs by Nickolas Muray (1892-1965), and Mexican-themed artwork by The Artists of Canal Street Gallery. Valet parking will be provided.
